Worship Notes - July 23 2007

While getting ready for last Friday night's worship set, God directed me to Nehamiah 8:6, which in the NASB reads like this:

"Then Ezra blessed the LORD the great God. And all the people answered, "Amen, Amen!" while lifting up their hands; then they bowed low and worshiped the LORD with their faces to the ground.

Sometimes when God reveals things to me He, can pack so much into the smallest instant. Here the image of all the people on their faces worshipping their great God, God's pleasure in receiving this offering of worship, His desire to be worshipped in this way in our times, and His desire to receive this type of worship offering from us this very night, all came in that instant.

I'm grateful that God takes time to lead us and guide us in His ways and His desires. We shared this scripture in the beginning of our corporate worship that night and then again later, at which time we corporately got on our faces together and worshipped God! It was awesome! I know I didn't want to stop. Stopping seemed so awkward. Stopping was awkward. Maybe we should still be there, on our faces.............

We can worship God with our posture, and it's scriptural to do so.

Worship Notes - October 25th 2006

About 8 or so weeks ago I really sensed a change in attack.. from frontal resistance to divide and conquer. And, that worship is the enemy's main target. If the enemy can take worship away from God by causing you or me not to worship Him, it could be one his greatest victories over a Christian. It may not be theologically correct but.. he came to steal, kill and destroy... What? Your life? Your happiness? How about stealing, killing and destroying your worship and praise to God using any means he can! You know I'm not talking about just a Friday night or a Sunday morning, but of a lifestyle of worship. We must set our jaw and be just as determined to worship Him every hour of every day, as we are when we go to church to worship.
Everything good and everything (appearing to be) bad is a test, a perfect gift from the Father of lights.

Let us praise and worship the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit in the midst of everything.

The field of praise is the field of battle.

Who, What, Where, When , How, and Why Worship

Who

Ascribe to the LORD the glory due his name; worship the LORD in the splendor of his holiness. Psalm 96:9

What

"The basic meaning of the word for 'worship' (PROSKUNEO) is to express, by words or by bowing down, profound and submissive respect or adoration." Roy Davison

Where, When

Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God-this is your spiritual act of worship. Romans 12:1

Worship is not something to be done just 1 day or 1 hour a week, it is to be a lifestyle. Like Job, who, after experiencing what I call "the dogpile of all time" (being informed he had lost his children, his servants and his livestock all at once) responded:

At this, Job got up and tore his robe and shaved his head. Then he fell to the ground in worship and said: "Naked I came from my mother's womb, and naked I will depart. The LORD gave and the LORD has taken away; may the name of the LORD be praised." Job 1:20-21

How

When all the Israelites saw the fire coming down and the glory of the LORD above the temple, they knelt on the pavement with their faces to the ground, and they worshiped and gave thanks to the LORD, saying, "He is good; his love endures forever." 2 Chronicles 7:3

Ezra praised the LORD, the great God; and all the people lifted their hands and responded, "Amen! Amen!" Then they bowed down and worshiped the LORD with their faces to the ground. Nehemiah 9:3

Worship the LORD with gladness; come before him with joyful songs. Psalm 100:2

Why

Jesus answered, "It is written: 'Worship the Lord your God and serve him only.' Luke 4:8

He said in a loud voice, "Fear God and give him glory, because the hour of his judgment has come. Worship him who made the heavens, the earth, the sea and the springs of water." Revelation 14:7
